The Santa Maria Police
Council (SMPC) funds essential
equipment and programs for the Santa Maria
Police Department
which are not included in the city budget. Our goal is
a safer
Santa Maria for those who live in, work in, and visit our city.

Update
Since
the Santa Maria Police Council’s origination in August 2007, over
$84,000 has been contributed to the Santa Maria Police Department for
the purchase of:
56 Tasers
K-9,
K-9 vest, training for K-9 & K-9 Officer
Cross training K-9’s Cent and Diesel for
narcotics detection
Specialized SWAT Team equipment/rifle
Santa Maria Police Explorer Post #115 patches
& uniforms
Future
goals include:
License plate recognition system used to identify stolen plates/vehicles
Thermal imaging equipment
Vehicle pursuit spike strips
Forensic equipment
Bullet proof blankets for injured victim
recovery and/or hostage situations
In
addition, the Council will provide ongoing support to the Police
Department Chaplain’s, Crime Prevention, D.A.R.E. and Explorer
Programs.
The
Santa Maria Police Council to is accepting ongoing charitable
contributions.

Maria Police Department Gets Night Vision
Santa
Marians don’t have to be afraid of things that go bump in the night.
Thanks to the largesse of the Santa Maria Police Council, the city’s
SWAT team can deal with nocturnal crime issues with dispatch, because it
has infrared goggles and can see in the dark.

MISSION
Santa
Maria Police Council, Inc., is a newly formed 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The council serves to support the Santa
Maria Police Department to enable purchases of safety materials and
equipment for the men and women of the department over and above what
the operating budget allows.
